EL SHADDAI CHILDREN HOME

The whole ministry started with God – One day I was in Jacksonville working in a
Christian Organization typing the story of a Haitian church that had returned from
a mission trip in the North West part of Haiti. The pastor was explaining about a
drought in that area and how it affected the people. I usually pray in my car while
driving, so that afternoon I started praying for the people in the area that God will
help them. The Lord spoke to me and said “Go feed them”. His voice was so
strong in my spirit. I knew God gave me an order, so I went to where my husband
was working and shared with him. I told him that I was going to Haiti and feed the
people. This seemed kind of crazy because I did not have any money and I didn't
know the area but the Lord did it. We went on a mission trip and abundant
blessings were poured out in Port de Paix. We had a crusade, medical clinics and
we fed the people. During this trip, hundreds of people got saved. It was during
this trip that the Lord opened my eyes to truly see the children. He showed me the
children coming out of the woods while the car was passing by hoping to get
something from us. I had nothing to give to them….not even a cookie. The Lord
was telling me that these children did not asked to be born in this condition nor
did my children ask to be born in the U.S. He allowed me to see where I was
born and that I could have had a basket on my head going up and down the
mountains to sell goods just to feed my children, but instead I am living in the US.
An incredible amount of love was deposited in my heart to start El Shaddai
Children Home which is a faith-based ministry where we believe God for all of our
needs and the Lord provides faithfully as we pray and believe Him.
El Shaddai Children Home has had as many as 38 children at one time. It is a God-centered
home where we teach the children about the Word of God, help them with their
education, supply them with their daily needs and love them unconditionally. The
children lived in our home until 2014. We had several break-ins where men came
in the middle of the night and asked for money. Even though the Lord always
protects us physically, the children and the staff were traumatized, so we had to
place the children with families. Even though this was very difficult for us to do,
this was a great blessing for the children. They are now living with family and
learning how to be a blessing to their family and to Haiti by living every day in the
midst of their country. Even though we do not house the children in our home, El
Shaddai Children Home is a vital part of ECSM as we continue to minister to each
of the children right where they are.

We have been blessed to see the children grow and become productive in the
country. Some of the children have completed school and have jobs. Some have
married as others are planning to be married. We now have 27 children in
different homes with family. Some are in primary school, some in secondary
school and some in University or trade school. We continue to pay for their school
tuition and each month we send them food and toiletries. We give them clothes,
shoes, and school supplies. We also have a yearly camp/reunion where all the
children unite for one week. This is a time of rejoicing for the children and the
staff. It is precious to see the children come together again as many of them
don’t see each other but just once a year during this camp.
ESCM is responsible for each of the children until they finish school and have a
a profession where they can sustain themselves. Our vision is that each of the
children from El Shaddai Children Home and El Shaddai Christian Academy will
serve God faithfully (Train up a child in the way he/she should go, And when
he/she is old he/she will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6) and become great
citizens for the country of Haiti or wherever God may send them.
